Sashiko, meaning ‘little stabs’, is a traditional Japanese stitching technique, used to mend and reinforce worn-out garments. In this visible mending workshop, you’ll learn the basics of this traditional Japanese method of repairing and get the chance to mend one of your own pieces of clothing.
Sashiko is all about embracing the art of repair. It encourages us to make visible mends and wear them with pride! While traditionally done in indigo and white, we will use colourful threads and patches to make your pieces stand out.
