We’re looking for budding performers to be a vibrant and fun presence, supporting the performers who are the Faces of Sparks. As a Sparkler’s Assistant, you will support by creating a dynamic rapport with the Sparklers and will boost your skill set by learning the tricks and trade of improv performance art.

Baby Bank provides pre-loved essentials to those in need and are one of the charities in Sparks’ fashion department. On Wednesdays 11am – 1pm they run a swap shop and storytelling session in the community champions corner at Sparks. They are looking for a couple of volunteers to engage families, explain how the swap shop and Baby Bank work, help families choose items, and explain how families can either receive help or support Baby Bank. You might also help sort donations that come in during the session.

We’ve started creating festive decorations to make the whole of Sparks feel even more sparkly. We meet weekly on Wednesday evenings 5 – 7pm and Saturday afternoons 1 – 3pm to make decorationd! No need for creative skills, all help gratefully received! Please contact Lucy to come and join in: volunteering@sparksbristol.co.uk

We’re looking for a nature engagement volunteer with excellent verbal communication skills, who’s passionate about protecting our planet. We need your energy to bring our Nature content to life by engaging the public as they make their way through Sparks. Help people to enjoy our Joey Pod chill out area, use the Forest of Avon string engagement piece, and host drop-in making activities for families.

We’re looking for regular volunteers to help in the Department of Reuse & Resources.  The re-use shop curated by Emmaus Bristol offers a treasure trove of retro, vintage and upcycled furniture, electricals, homewares, and clothing providing people with the chance to find a one off piece and support people out of homelessness.

You will be helping run the shop, using the till, speaking to people who visit and could include fixing, making and repairing. Or you could become a dedicated repair cafe volunteer, helping with the regular Sunday workshops. They’re particularly keen to hear from people who might have sewing, electronic, or general repair skills.

In the Department of Energy you can volunteer as an energy advisor and chat to Sparks visitors about how they can reduce their bills and save energy, following training provided by Bristol Energy Network.

In the Department of Fashion you can support the work of charities, Avon Valley Wildlife Trust and Baby Bank. You might be helping on the department till, getting clothes ready for sale, keeping things neat and tidy or repairing items so they can be worn once again.

The Re-Fuse department, a hub for reducing electronic waste run by education experts Sustainable Hive, runs workshops for schools. They’d love some volunteers to help with interactive activities as part of these workshops.

A library is developing upstairs in the Department of Imagination. The library volunteer will pop in to keep the library neat and tidy and coordinate reading groups at the library.

We’re looking for someone with website experience (ideally wordpress) who can help add event listings to the Sparks website to keep our visitors in the loop about what’s on in store.

Volunteer with our social media lead and help gather to content across activities at Sparks (this might be day-to-day life in the departments, or capturing what’s happening at events) to be used by on Sparks’ social media channels.
