We’re taking part in the Bristol Bid Care and Repair Festival, 7th – 19th April with loads of free workshops, talks and events all celebrating the actions we can take to save landfill and money by taking care of and repairing the things we own rather than throwing them away and buying new.

8-12, 15-19 April, 11 – 6pm Your wishes for Broadmead Add your views to this giant dandelion clock Sparks Bristol Ground Floor, in our Nature Department, Broadmead entrance.
9th April, 1 – 1.45pm Food Is The Best Medicine Lunchtime talk with Mike Abrahams about how what we eat impacts our health. This could really change your life for the better! Free talk in Sparks Bristol, more details.
10th April, 12 – 4pm Craft sessions for all ages Sewing and creative fabric art Drop in to the community craft table on the Ground Floor of Sparks Bristol, next to the cafe.
11th April, 11 – 6pm Interactive Performers in and around Sparks Our Sparklers will be entertaining the public in Broadmead. Sparks’ Ground Floor and at the Horsefair entrance
11th April, 11 – 5pm Dr Bike, Cycle Repair Is your bike feeling a bit under the weather? Bring it to Dr Bike – your friendly, free bike health check. Sparks Bristol Ground Floor, Travel Department by the Horsefair entrance.
11th April, 11 – 4pm Craft sessions for all ages Tatreez – using traditional Palestinian embroidery to explore personal ancestry, memory, and storytelling. Drop in to the craft table on the ground floor of Sparks Bristol, next to the cafe.
12th and 15th April, 2 – 2.30pm Storytelling – Earth Care Tales Join Marcus Fagon for a lively journey through the storytelling traditions of Africa and Europe. On the Ground Floor of Sparks Bristol. Free, book in advance.
15th April, 12 – 1pm Workshop – Resilience: practical tools for staying strong in a busy city A supportive and informative workshop to explore simple, effective ways to strengthen your resilience when facing everyday challenges. Free, book in advance or drop in to the ground floor Department of Discovery.
15th April, 12 and 1pm Storytelling with a mermaid Join real life mermaid and environmentalist Lyndsay Cole as she reads her own children’s stories. Outside Sparks Bristol, Haymarket entrance.
16th April, 11 – 5pm Bike Repair skills workshops from Bike Bristol Hourly Sessions covering brake and gear adjustments, punctures, and safety checks led by Bike Bristol. Travel Department by the Horsefair entrance n the Ground Floor of Sparks Bristol. Free, book in advance.
17th April, 12 – 4pm Craft sessions for all ages Learn the basics of making Mosaic Drop in to the community craft table, next to the cafe on the Ground Floor of Sparks Bristol.
17th April, 3 – 6pm Clothing Repair with The Slow Fashion Studio. Meret and Lisa will show you an array of different techniques to revive your worn and broken items. At the Slow Fashion Studio opposite the Fashion Department on the Ground Floor of Sparks Bristol. Free, book in advance.
18th April, 11 – 12pm Climate Cafe The Climate Café is a pop up, welcoming space for people to get together to discuss thoughts and feelings about the climate crisis, over biscuits and a hot drink! Sparks Bristol ground floor Department of Energy.
18th April, 1 – 7pm Love Saves The Day Sustainable Fashion Event The Love Saves community is out to prove slow festival fashion slaps. Come and get your summer looks sorted. Sparks Bristol first Floor Department of Imagination. Pay What You Can, book in advance.
19th April, 12 – 5pm Local learning – History of Broadmead exhibition Share your memories of the area and insights into what would make for an ideal Broadmead.
19th April, 12.30pm and 3pm Storytelling – tales from Broadmead Join Pete for some fabulous stories of old Broadmead, and share your memories at the exhibition inside. Outside Sparks Bristol, or inside if wet! Free, book in advance.
